Privacy Policy
Template Only - Legal Advice Required
Welcome to Strength in Numbers. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our application.
Our philosophy is to be as privacy-conscious as possible. We aim to store the minimum amount of data necessary and to keep sensitive information on your device whenever feasible.
1. Account Information (Firebase Authentication)
When you create an account or log in using Google or Email/Password, we use Firebase Authentication. This service stores your basic profile information, such as your email address, name, photo URL (if provided by Google), and a unique user ID (UID). We use this solely to identify you and secure your account. We do not use this information for marketing or share it with third parties.
2. Emergency Contacts & Profile (On Your Device)
Your list of emergency contacts (names and phone numbers) and your personal profile information (your name and phone number) are stored **only on your device** in your browser's local storage. This information never leaves your device and is not uploaded to our servers or any third-party service. It is used only by the app on your device to initiate notifications during an emergency.
3. SMS Notifications (Twilio)
When you activate an emergency alert, your emergency contacts' phone numbers and the content of the alert message are sent to our backend service, which then uses Twilio, a third-party communications platform, to send the SMS. Twilio temporarily processes this data to deliver the message. This is an essential step for the alert system to function. The data is subject to Twilio's privacy policy.
4. Video and Audio Feed
When an alert is activated, the app records video and audio from your device. This feed is displayed on your screen but is not stored or transmitted anywhere. It is for your local view only.
You have rights over your data. Because most of your data is stored on your own device, you have direct control:
- Access & Correction: You can view and update your Profile and Emergency Contacts directly in the app's Settings page.
- Deletion: To delete your Profile or Emergency Contacts, you can remove them in the Settings page or clear your browser's local storage for this site. To delete your account, you can contact us to request account deletion.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
